The Nigerian Environmental Society (NES) paid a courtesy visit to the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), on the 15th of February, 2023 to discuss the need for collaboration towards solving some of the impending environmental issues in the society.

The NES president, Dr. Lympson shared some interesting aspects of some of the positive outcomes if collaboration is looked into, he stated the importance of having all hands on deck in terms of research and implementation of ideas and rules to further enhance environmental sustainability.

Prof. Aliyu Jauro, the Director General (NESREA) added that new programs has been developed to curtail the impact of global warming and emission of carbon dioxide (CO2) gases, this will greatly assist in the area of advocacy in environmental issues and creating awareness.

He stated that the need to work with educational institution, The National Youth Service Corps and international organizations are very important, in helping to foster plans already in place to solve environmental challenges.

The Director General, further endorsed the collaboration and acknowledged it as a brilliant idea, adding that the Nigerian environmental Society is the oldest and foremost environmental NGO in Nigeria and their input in terms of research and structure is greatly needed especially towards Air pollution which is a global issue in relation to climate change

In his closing remarks, the DG urged the NES team to mobilize NESREA staff, encouraging them to join the Society to further strengthen the collaboration and bring new strategies to curb environmental challenges
