ABSTRACT
Man was given the environment as a gift and he has made the most of all the resources embedded in this gift given to him to better his quality of life but alongside the use of the environment has come its abuse. Man’s attitudes and behaviors towards the environment at present is a long way off from any form of sustainability and this poses a great risk to the future of man and the environment. Change as is commonly said is the only constant thing in life. Changes occur all around us from day to day either in the positive or negative direction. Seasons, times, events, trends, lifestyles, opportunities and indeed all that life consists of are constantly changing. Much has been done in terms of advocacy for the environment but it seems only a radical change in our attitudes and behaviors towards the environment can assure us that our posterity will receive from us as the gift of the environment as we also received; a place where they can call ‘home’.

Key words: Environment, sustainability, attitude, behavior, posterity
