The Nigerian Environmental Society (NES) featured at the inaugural meeting of the Nigerian Industrial Energy Efficiency (IEE) and Resource Efficient Cleaner Production Proect ect.

The project which is in partnership with United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Federal Government of Nigeria and Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), is aimed at improving Nigeria’s Industrial Energy Performance (IEE) and Resource Efficient Cleaner Production (RECP) through Programmatic Approaches and the Promotion of Innovation in Clean Technology Solutions. The IEE/RECP project will accelerate the adoption of industrial energy efficiency (IEE) and to improve enterprise environmental performance through the mainstreaming of ISO50001 compliant, Energy Management Systems (EnMS) and Industrial Energy Systems Optimization (ESO); under the wider umbrella of Resource Efficiency and Cleaner Production (RECP) best practices and innovative approaches within selected small, medium and large-scale industrial enterprises in Nigeria.

The Nigerian Environmental Society (NES) got the top recognition to represent Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in Nigeria at the inaugural meeting of the project steering in committee in Abuja on 26th November, 2020.

The project steering committee was inaugurated by the Hon. Minister for Environment, Dr. Mohammed Abubakar, with the Hon. Minister of State for Environment, Chief Sharon Ikeazor, UNIDO Country Representatives, Mr. Jean Bakole and Mr. Dipo Banjo in attendance. NES was represented by the National President, Dr. Dorothy Bassey (FNES).
